The IBBC has gained a reputation among internet-savvy Dawg fans as having one of the best tailgates on game day due to friendly people, award-winning food, wonderful conversations, and lastly, a great presence with our 'facilities' and location. We've also gained a rep for welcoming one and all to partake of our hospitality. We want to continue this tradition!
This year, at least for the first home game, we're gonna be in cahoots with the fine people from The Bulldawg Junction (.com) aka 'Maroon and White Magazine' by setting up and operating a joint tailgate. Both organizations are looking to 1) garner some much needed PR by hosting one of the largest tailgates on campus and 2) use it as a recruiting tool for new members. U.S. Foods is furnishing all the meat, and some other dishes, necessary to have a tremendous tailgate. Our members have responded wonderfully in the past with both culinary and monetary help. Even with this year's joint tailgate with much of the food being supplied, any help is, and will always be, very appreciated and more than welcome. Members are encouraged to attend the tailgates and to bring guests. As always, we ask that everyone please sign up in advance on the events board so we can plan well. As in the past, the IBBC doghouse will be prominently displayed at each tailgate for depositing voluntary contributions.
Also because of the tailgate arrangement, the equipment requirements needed to have a successful tailgate have changed. Our equipment is now being stored at the Bulldog Backer's home which affords many advantages (thanks, Glen). He asks that we have some volunteers with at least one bringing a pickup truck to meet at his house NLT 0900 on game day for a 1000 setup time at the site. Even though we are expecting more 'members' of both organizations, we are still expected to do our part and help with the operation of the tailgate which includes furnishing some of our equipment, setting up/tearing down and the cooking. Even with that, there should be plenty of time and opportunity for socializing and eating!
Specific details will be described on the events board before each game.
